Cincinnati, OH

New Albany was largely planned, and it shows: a village center built around Market Square, the white fence along the leisure trails, and a business park that has drawn corporate headquarters and, more recently, a large semiconductor project under development in the area. Households here are heavily weighted toward senior corporate roles, which means equity compensation, relocation history and the specific problem of owning a lot of one company.

What New Albany retires from

The employers and retirement plans we see most often from New Albany households. These are the details that decide when you can retire and what you keep.

Abercrombie & Fitch

Headquartered on a campus in the New Albany area. Retail corporate careers bring restricted stock units and performance awards that vest in uneven amounts, so income can swing widely from one year to the next and the tax planning has to be done annually rather than once.

Bath & Body Works

A significant corporate presence in the New Albany area. Long-tenured employees often hold accumulated company shares alongside their retirement plan, which quietly ties both their paycheck and their savings to the same business results.

Intel's semiconductor project in the area

The project is under development rather than settled, and we treat it that way. For households whose careers or property values may be affected, the planning value is in flexibility: not making irreversible decisions on the assumption of a timeline nobody controls.

Employer plans are described in general terms. Your own benefits, elections and deadlines govern, and we review them directly rather than assuming.

Questions

Questions from New Albany

My compensation is mostly equity and it varies a lot year to year. How do you plan around that?

We build the plan on the reliable part of your income and treat vesting proceeds as a separate decision each year. That keeps fixed commitments sized to something durable, and it lets a large vesting year go toward diversification, charitable giving or a Roth conversion instead of expanding the household's baseline spending. Uneven income is normal here and it is planned for, not smoothed over.

We relocated to New Albany for a corporate role and may move again. Does that change the planning?

It changes the tax and property pieces most. State residency, when equity vests relative to a move, and whether you keep or sell the house all carry consequences that are much easier to arrange before a relocation than after. It also argues for a plan that is portable, which is one of the practical advantages of a video-first relationship: moving does not mean starting over with a new firm.

Is there an MCF presence in New Albany?

No. We serve New Albany households from our Cincinnati office on E Kemper Rd, about two hours away, and we would rather be direct about that than imply a local address. In practice the relationship is a scheduled video cadence with your advisor, CPA and estate planning contact together, plus in-person meetings a couple of times a year for the conversations that call for it.
